Wired Companion Devices
Wired Dimmer and Switch Companions pair with Decora Smart Dimmers, Switches or Fan Speed Controls to provide additional lighting control where needed, such as at the base of a staircase, the end of a hallway or open areas with multiple entrances that have existing 3-way or more control.

Wired Companion Device Features

Not a Stand-Alone Device

This device can only be used in 3-way or more installations and requires a primary Decora Smart® (Wi-Fi®, Z-Wave®, HomeKit or Zigbee®) or Decora Digital dimmer or fan speed control to operate.

Brightness/Fan Speed Display

Lights up to display the brightness or fan speed level. Tracks the main dimmer or fan speed control.

Rocker Switch

Separate ON/OFF switch allows the light or fan speed setting to remain at set level

Brightness/Fan Speed Control Bar

Press bar up or down to adjust brightness or fan speed level.

Locator LED

Illuminates when load is off, making it easy to locate in the dark.

Choosing the Right Companion Device

Companion devices are intended to be used in 3-way or multi-location applications. They must be paired with a primary dimmer, switch or fan speed control in order to function. The chart below identifies companion devices and which primary devices they can be used with.

No. This is a companion device intended for 3-way or more applications only and must be used with a Decora Smart dimmer, Decora Smart fan speed control, Decora Digital dimmer or Decora Digital fan speed control.

Single pole means controlling one or more lighting fixtures from a single location. Multi-location is the ability to control one or more lighting fixtures from two or more locations.

The primary dimmer will be used in the main location and the DD00R-DLZ dimmer companion(s) can be used in up to 4 additional locations. An example would be a large great room where there are several locations in which you can control the same lights.

Yes, a neutral wire is required to install the DD00R-DLZ dimmer companion. Neutral wires are typically two or more white wires in an electrical box. If you are unsure consult an electrician.

The maximum wire length from the primary dimmer to the dimmer companion(s) cannot exceed 300 Ft (90m).

Although a neutral wire is preferred, it is not required. There are alternative wiring methods that can be used to install the DD0SR-1Z when a neutral wire is not present. Please see the product instruction sheet for details.
