Glenrothes, UK, April 24, 2023 – Today Leviton announced the enhancement of its MarineSafe Cat 6, Cat 6A and Cat 7 copper cable portfolio with the addition of Lloyd's Register Type Approval certification for use in Ships and Offshore Installations. The third-party approval process certifies that cables have been tested to a wide-ranging set of criteria. Lloyd’s Register had its beginnings more than 260 years ago to improve the safety of ships. Lloyd’s Register Type Approval (TA) certification process is both extremely rigorous and comprehensive to ensure the products tested will perform in harsh maritime environments. The approval verifies that Leviton’s cables meet the demanding requirements of shipboard and offshore installations.

Leviton's MarineSafe cables have an enhanced Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) sheath ensuring excellent fire and operating temperature characteristics, as well as being designed to ensure electrical performance well beyond ISO/IEC and ANSI/TIA category standards. When used in conjunction with Leviton connectivity, these cables give shipbuilders, and those designing structured cabling networks for marine environments, the portfolio of solutions they need to deploy mission critical data applications at up to 10 Gb/s, while enabling Power over Ethernet (PoE) to up to 100 watts.
