Marked Controlled Receptacles

The NEC requires all 15A & 20A, 125V receptacles that are automatically controlled to be marked with a specific symbol and the word “CONTROLLED” on the device.

How they work:

  • Occupancy sensors
    • Receptacles can be wired to occupancy sensors that detect when a space is occupied and turn on power accordingly
  • Timers
    • Receptacles can be programmed to turn on and off at specific times, ensuring they are only powered during designated periods

We offer three different grades of receptacles with performance levels based on construction and application:

UL construction and performance requirements for Hospital Grade receptacles are more stringent than those for specification grade devices. Leviton Hospital Grade receptacles meet or exceed these requirements. These receptacles are Fed Spec W-C-596 rated.
